An ohm meter is a great way of measuring resistance. Having a multimeter is even a better choice because they can read voltage, amperage,as well as ohms. These meters measure the amount of resistance on devices, wires, and components. There are different ohm settings to select for the many different things you may test. Testing switches is a snap with multimeters, so pick one up and give it a test.
