Check The Single-pole Switch Wiring Connections

Single-pole Switch Being Wired
Timothy Thiele
The wiring connected to single-pole switches can cause problems with switch operation. If the wires are not connected tightly, arcing can take place and cause the light connected to the circuit to flicker. This causes heat buildup that can break down the wire insulation and cause electrical fires. The added heat is also transfered across the switch contact and can cause it to fail. Make sure the wires are stripped to proper length and that no nicks are present on the exposed copper. If the wires are nicked, cut off the bad spot and strip ¾”of insulation off of the wire using wire strippers, bend it, and you'll be ready to connect it once agin.
