In order to install F-connectors on coaxial cable, you must first prepare the cable for the installation. If you are lucky enough to own a coaxial cable stripper, it does most of the work for you. If not, carefully using a razor knife, cut off 1/2" to 3/4" of the black outer sheathing. Be especially careful not to cut into the inner cable shielding. Slide the cut piece from the cable and discard.

Now, using a pair of wire strippers, cut the inner white plastic coating back approximately 3/8" and discard. Be careful not to cut the inner copper wire off.
