I am in a particular bind right now where I just moved into a new apartment with my wife, and we needed to buy a washer and dryer for the place. The dryer we bought came with a 4 prong power cord but the unit has a 3 prong outlet. Can I do the cord switch from a 4 prong to a 3?

I recently purchased a new clothes dryer with a 4 prong plug however my receptable is a 3-way. Also the slots on the 3-way receptable are straight and none have the 90 deg angles shown on some pictures. How can I change this?
